Passed in 2019, the Climate Mobilization Act consists of a slate of Local Laws designed to dramatically cut carbon in New York City by targeting building emissions. The Act includes Local Laws 92 and 94 requiring all new buildings and buildings undergoing major rehab to be covered with solar panels and/or green roofs, Local Law 95 requiring all buildings to publicly post a letter grade and energy efficiency score, Local Law 96 establishing long-term, low-interest financing to fund efficiency upgrades, and Local Law 97 requiring buildings larger than 25,000 square feet to meet ambitious carbon reduction targets.
